Lleida must be potentied as one of the first level logistic nodes in the Mediterranean Corridor

On March 3, the President of FERRMED, Mr. Joan Amorós, with the director of Communication in attendance, Mrs. Assumpta Torrent, met with the Mayor of Lleida,
Mr. Miquel Pueyo, accompanied by Mr. Toni Postius, 1st Deputy Mayor and Councillor for urban planning; Mr. Josep M. Romero, Head of the Mayor’s Office, and
Mr. Josep Gabarro, Technical Coordinator of urban planning.
Afterwards, he held a meeting with the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Lleida, Mr. Jaume Saltó, with the General Secretary of the
entity, Mr. Josep Ramón París.
The purpose of the meetings was to present the “FERRMED Study of Traffic and Modal Shift Optimization in the EU”. When key issue of the study to identify the most crowded section of the EU main corridors with the corresponding basic intermodal terminals. In this regard, Joan Amorós to request from “La Paeria” (Lleida City Council) and the Chamber of Commerce all available details pertaining to the new “Pla de Vilanoveta Freight Terminal”, and existing or planned logistic zones in the region.
In addition, Joan Amorós proposed, among all the stakeholders – including FERRMED – the creation of a powerful promotion platform to “promote Lleida as one of the first level logistic nodes in the Mediterranean Corridor”. Perhaps the City Council and the Chamber could promote this idea and, in any eventuality, we are at your disposition to work together, he added.
